When Earth was first formed the climate was very hot. The Earth gradually cooled to sustainable temperatures that allowed life to exist (Earth). Sometimes on Earth there were also ice ages. An ice age is a long-term reduction in the temperature on Earth’s surface and atmosphere, resulting in Earth expanding. When there were ice ages, the Earth was very cold, but was still able to sustain life. Earth is the third planet from the sun and it is the fifth largest planet in our solar system.
