Business Analysis Part I – Wal-Mart Wal-Mart is a common staple in American society today, as it was in the past. From the time Wal-Mart opened its doors in Rogers, Ark back in 1962, Wal-Mart has served the public in ways that are unimaginable to other convenience store and retail chains throughout the nation. When first opened, Sam Walton imagined that his store would be a convenience to working families. The company became incorporated as Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., on Oct. 31, 1969. (, 2012) Wal-Mart is also a big believer that the community must come first. In order to demonstrate this, Wal-Mart supports many different causes. A few such causes are disaster relief efforts, veterans and military families, individuals with disabilities, and the underserved. In order to sustain ecological well-being, Wal-Mart supports local farmers for produce and recycles unused plastics. Finally, health and well-being is a high priority on Wal-Mart’s list of concerns. Providing healthy foods and products for their customers shows that Wal-Mart cares for them. Meanwhile they provide extensive healthcare packages to their employees to make sure that they are able to stay healthy and provide the best customer experience possible.
Even with its immense growth, Wal-Mart continues to make a difference in the lives of their customers, members and associates. Since it has a guaranteed monopoly on the kind of service it offers, it is hard to find a competitor of the same merchandise. Thus it has cornered the market on the neighborhood shopping center. Hence as to why Kmart is almost non- existent in many states now. | | Weaknesses:
